Citizens for Better Government in Waterloo Region

It's 6am and I'm more asleep than awake.

The Citizens for Better Government in Waterloo Region have released their report to much fanfare in the Region of Waterloo. Heh, given the frontpage story of The Record the day before was on drinking fountains anything sounds good right.

It's more than a little funny that they spent 3 years to confirm what they already said they were going to say. Senility slows you down I guess...

For a guy so bound on efficiency, why doesn't Jim Erb practice what he preaches, why doesn't he walk the talk and propose to merge all the funeral homes into one for Waterloo Region.

It really seems confusing to most people I know, what with all the fees and different services and prepaid services and casket choices.

I'd bet more people are confused and concerned about the cost and rigor-marole (laughing) in burying someone than they are about local government.

Surely there's no value in the variety of services and locations - right Jim? After all what you really are is just a middle man who arranges for someone to dig a hole and fill it back in for a hefty fee.

Here's my proposal. I like Mark Jutzi funeral home in New Hamburg. They're good people and throw a good funeral. Good services, low price, low overhead - so we'll just use them for everyone.

Effective in 2010 all burials in Waterloo Region will be dealt with through the Mark Jutzi funeral home officially.

Heh, no offence Jim, but if there's no value in diversity for government...

We'll use the Walmart approach to Funeral Homes, Government and everything else.....

The Big Box Mart model for everything. Check out this video and you'll see what I mean....
